Join us for the Multnomah County Chapter Americans For Prosperity monthly meeting Saturday, July 27th at 11:15 at Round Table Pizza 6250 SE Foster Rd Portland. Our speaker will be John A Charles Jr of Cascade Policy Institute speaking on “What’s Next For The Columbia River Crossing.” We will be celebrating that the Columbia River Crossing boondoggle is dead.
There has been some interesting correlating items in the news. The Governor’s Advisor to the Columbia River Crossing, Patty McCaig (who, you may remember from when forensic attorney Tiffany Couch spoke to us, happened to be employed by the largest recipient of Columbia River Crossing contracts David Evans and Assoc) is being investigated on 8 violations of ethics and lobbying laws. Also, TriMet is being audited by the Secretary of State thanks to the recommendation of Rep Chris Gorsek. If you saw John Charles’ testimony to the State Committee upon which Chris Gorsek serves, you will understand why an audit is due. The audio of his testimony and the paperwork submitted with the testimony is available on-line see links below.
We meet at Round Table Pizza on Foster Rd where it intersects with Holgate and 62nd. It is a brick building and the parking lot is entered from 62nd off Holgate. The pizza parlor opens at 11am, so the meeting starts at 11:15 to give anyone ordering pizza time to place their order.

We learned the current benefit leveles are 156% of payroll and the future unfunded healthcare benefits negotiated in union contracts are 592% of payroll. To get more information on TriMet’s financial woes, use the links and instructions below:

Click on Transportation and Economic Development in House committee section click on 4-15-2013 3:04 pm. It comes after the dredging testimony. Neil McFarlane of TriMet speaks before John A Charles Jr does. It makes for a great compare/contrast.
The written testimony and materials can be found here: https://olis.leg.state.or.us/liz/2013R1/Measures/Exhibits/HB3316 John Charles’ are in exhibit 30 & 8 while Neil McFarlane’s are in exhibit 27, 28 & 7.
Please call/write your Oregon Legislators, ask them not to fund the boondoggle that is the Columbia River Crossing even in this reincarnation.
